Welcome to the AVE (Academica Virtual Education) 
Greetings parents, teachers and students! My name is Ms. Alison Siegel and I am your the virtual instructor this semester. 
 
I have been a part of the AVE family for over nine years. I am proud to have been awarded our Teacher of the Year for 2014-2015 school year and Somerset East Prep's Middle School's Teacher of the Year award for the 2010-2011 school year. This is my fifth year as part of the AVE team. I have taught online courses and led instructional and non-instructional teams over the years. I earned my B.A. in Education from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. I've experienced many career opportunities over the years; working in retail, banking/bookkeeping, wholesale, restaurants, teaching English in Brazil, teaching Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students K-7, working as an ESE Specialist, and above all I’m a proud parent of a college student, high school student, fourth grade teacher, and an entrepreneur. I'm proof that although you might not know exactly what you want to do when you graduate, you can grow exponentially from each work experience and wind up in a wonderful place. 
 
My passion is helping students educationally and emotionally. It's great to hear my daughter’s friends from college say, &quot;I can't imagine myself anywhere else.&quot; All students need a plan to help themselves become self-sufficient, independent adults. I love being able to help expand a student's knowledge and engage them in learning online. 
To my high school students: Your junior and senior years are critical in finding out what you want to do in life. Identify sources of college and career information at your school and seek assistance from advisors and teachers. Don’t miss out! This is the time to make decisions about your future. There is a world of opportunities available to students; plan now, try hard, and follow your dreams! 
 
I love being a part of the AVE team. I feel fortunate to be a part of the Academica family!
